01 - 8.8 oz ground beef or ground turkey
→ Vegetables
02 - 1 small onion, finely chopped
03 - 1 small tomato, diced (optional)
04 - 1/2 cup canned corn kernels, drained (optional)
→ Spices & Flavor
05 - 1 packet (approx. 1 oz) taco seasoning mix
06 - 2 tbsp tomato paste
07 - 2 tbsp water
→ Bases & Shells
08 - 12 wonton wrappers
→ Cheese
09 - 3/4 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
→ Toppings (optional)
10 - 1/4 cup sour cream
11 - 1/4 cup finely shredded lettuce
12 - 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
13 - 2 tbsp sliced green onions
14 - 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
# Step-by-Step Instructions:
01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin to prevent sticking.
02 - Press a single wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, moulding the wrapper so the edges fold up to create a small cup.
03 - Warm a skillet over medium heat, add the ground meat and chopped onion, and cook until the meat is browned and the onion is softened, about 5–6 minutes; drain any excess fat.
04 - Return the skillet to medium-low heat, stir in the tomato paste, taco seasoning and water, and simmer 2–3 minutes until the mixture thickens; fold in diced tomato and corn if using.
05 - Spoon the seasoned meat evenly into the prepared wonton cups, topping each mound with a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
06 - Bake in the preheated oven 10–12 minutes, until wonton edges are crisp and cheese is melted and lightly browned.
07 - Allow cups to cool slightly, remove them from the tin, then finish with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, green onions, cilantro and a dollop of sour cream as desired; serve immediately.
